Five Players Score Double-Digits as the Jayhawks Fall to NCCC

SANBORN - The Jamestown Community College men's basketball team looked to grab a win on Friday in Region 3 action but came up short against Niagara County Community College, 105-91.

 

The Jayhawks (2-4, 0-3 WNYAC) were led offensively by freshman guard Joseph Okonoboh (Boston, MA/Bradford Christian Academy) with 17 points on 6-for-8 (75 percent) from the field and 3-for-4 (75 percent) from beyond the arc. Sophomore guard Kane Kenyon (Surrey, Reigate, England/Three Rivers Academy) arecord a career-high 17 points on the night including six made free throws. Sophomore guard Kyle Butler (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool HS) had an all-around game; scoring 14 points, grabbing nine boards (4 offense, 5 defense) while adding five assists.

 

Redshirt-sophomore guard Isaac Allen (Houston, TX/Texas Connection Academy) and freshman guard/forward Shem Gordon (Vaughn, Ontario, Canada/Potters House Christian) chipped in with 11 points each.

 

The Thunderwolves were led offensively by Kailee White with 22 points with Jamond Jones adding 21 points, respectively.

 

On the night, JCC went 27-for-65 (41.5 percent) from the floor including 9-for-24 (37.5 percent) from beyond the arc). NCCC went 36-for-67 (53.7 percent) from the field including 11-for-26 (42.3 percent) from three point land.

 

On the glass, the Jayhawks had the slight advantage, out rebounding the Thunderwolves 41-38. NCCC had control of the paint, scoring 46 points to the Jayhawks' 28 points.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Wednesday, March 24th, as they face NCCC to wrap up the four-game regular season series between the two teams. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
