Jean Toussaint's Rebounding Helps Jayhawks To Victory

The JCC Jayhawks men's basketball team (5-4) hosted the Lakers of Lakeland Community College (3-2).   Both teams got off to shaky starts with turnovers and missed shot with neither team reaching double digits on the scoreboard after nearly 6 minutes of play as the Jayhawks took a 10-8 lead.  With 10 minutes left in the period, the Lakers held a 15-12 lead, and the two teams traded leads until the score was tied 22-22 with 6 minutes to play.  This is when the Jayhawks took flight and scored 22 points in 6 minutes to give the Jayhawks a 44-28 lead at the end of the half.  The second half saw the Lakers begin to match the Jayhawks energy and with 15 minutes to play the Jayhawks held a 48-38 lead.  The two teams would stay around 10 points away from each other the next 10 minutes of play as every time the Lakers closed the lead back into single digits a member of the Jayhawks would step up at a crucial moment and build the lead back into double digits.  The last five minutes would be all Jayhawks as they went on to down the Lakers 82-69.

The Jayhawks were led by #34 Jean Toussaint who had a double double of 20 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 blocks; #12 Tyler Moffe had 17 points; #10 Derek Ice (Bronx) had 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists; #4 Michael Bush (Harlem) had 13 points and 5 rebounds; #32 Brandon Kemp (Brooklyn) had 9 points and 9 rebounds; #22 Dashawn Branch had 4 points; and #20 Tanner Dahl (Westfield) had 3 points.
