Tyler Moffe is a freshman on the men's basketball team for JCC. He played on the basketball team in high school and afterword was redshirted at the University of Buffalo. That team won the MAC tournament and made it into the March Madness tournament. In high school he averaged 20 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2 steals per game, shooting 43.2 percent from the field. He has been named 8th Team All-State, 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Section, and finished as Elmira's all-time leading scorer. Michael Jordan is his favorite athlete. Moffe plans to continue his education at a four-year school and play basketball after graduation.

Spot Light Athlete

This week’s spotlight athlete is Tyler Moffe, a freshman member of our Men’s basketball team. Last year, Moffe attended the University of Buffalo, and when things did not work out for him there, he decided that even though he could have gone other places, he decided to come and be a Jayhawk to see where junior college would take him after a year or two.

When he is not playing basketball, he likes to hang out with his friends, watch movies and play video games. When on campus, he also enjoys going to the Learning Center and getting his work done.

When it comes to college athletics, Moffe enjoys the experiences as a whole that goes along with it. “When it comes to the real world, because of college athletics, I’ll be ready for anything.” He has also had a love for basketball since a young age, playing and competing at a high level on the court his whole life has been his favorite thing about the sport. After JCC, Moffe plans to play basketball at a four-year school, even though he is not sure where yet.

As for advice to other athletes, his advice is to “really focus on the student part because that’s what is going to ultimately help you become a successful student athlete, because without the right grades, you won’t be able to succeed as an athlete.”
