Men's Basketball vs Mercyhurst NE

The JCC Jayhawks men's basketball team (NJCAA Div II, 22-6) hosted the Saints of Mercyhurst NE College (NJCAA Div II, 16-12).  The Jayhawks honored their sophomores as they hosted their last home game of the season.  The Jayhawks were pumped up and after 5 minutes of play, the Jayhaws lead was 19-3 and after 10 minutes the Jayhawks were up 33-8.  The Jayhawks began playing reserve players and role player and this allowed the Saints to gain some momentum before half, closing the scoring gap, leaving the half time score 44-30 in favor of the Jayhawks.  After 5 minutes into the second half the Jayhawks were up 59-33.  The Jayhawks mixed in starters with reserve players the remainder of the game with the Saints and built a 75-50 lead and begin to empty the bench in the closing minutes.  The Saints were able to match them point for point in the second half, but the first half deficit kept the game out of reach for the Saints as they were downed by the Jayhawks 80-74   The Jayhawks were led by #21 Kyle Taylor-Mcleggan 's (Harlem) 25 points (including 4-7 from 3-point land) and 3 steals; #24 Rakim Lesane 's (Coney Island) 22 points, 7 assists, and 5 steals; #22 Samuel Joseph 's (Brooklyn) 12 points, 5 steals, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds; #40 Brian Roberts ' (Cleveland) 10 points and 8 rebounds; #4 Michael Bush 's (Harlem) 6 points and 8 rebounds; and #32 Brandon Kemp 's (Brooklyn) 4 points and 5 rebounds.
