JAMESTOWN - Looking to rebound after their last game, the Jamestown Community College men's basketball team came away with a 68-66 thriller over Region 3 foe Niagara County Community College Wednesday evening.

This is the team's first win over the Thunderwolves since the 2015-16 season where the Jayhawks came away with an 89-88 win.

The Jayhawks (3-4, 1-3 WNYAC) were led offensively by redshirt-sophomore guard Isaac Allen (Houston, TX/Texas Connection Academy) with 26 points with sophomore guards Kyle Butler (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool HS) and Kane Kenyon (Surrey, Regiate, England/Three Rivers Academy) with 11 points each. Butler also added nine rebounds (4 offense, 5 defense) and six assists.

The Thunderwolves were led by Justin Hendrick and Taylor Sanders with 11 points each, respectively.

Allen got the scoring started with a three-pointer off the feed from Butler to go up 3-0. Jamond Jones answered back with a three-pointer of his own to knot things up. JCC continued to run their offense, going on a 9-1 run with five points from Butler and four from Allen.

NCCC had momentum shift to their side, scoring the games next 13 points, getting their biggest lead of five, up 17-12 at the halfway point in the first half.

JCC battled for the rest of the first half, chipping away at the Thunderwolves' lead. Kenyon put the Jayhawks back on top, converting on a pair of free throw attempts. Kenyon continued his offense, making the layup and getting the and-one free throw. NCCC closed the half out with a made three-pointer by Lamar Lovelace. The Jayhawks would take a 32-31 lead into the break.

The Jayhawks kept taking the game to NCCC, gaining a 10 point advantage thanks to back-to-back made threes from Allena and Butler, making it 45-35 with 13:16 left in regulation.

NCCC kept the game to no more than 10 points for the remainder of the second half and pulled within two points as Hendricks made a pair of free throws, making it 65-63. Allen responded, sinking the three-pointer. The Thunderwolves showed a spirt of offense but came up short.

The Jayhawks went 26-for-62 (41.9 percent) from the field with the Thunderwolves shooting 23-for-62 (37.1 percent) from the floor.

JCC established the paint early and often, outsourcing NCCC 34-28.

The Jayhawks will be back home this Saturday, March 27th, against Region 19 opponent Union College. Tip is set for 6:30 p.m.
