The JCC Jayhawks men's basketball team (18-12) went on the road to face the Tribunes of Monroe Community College (16-11) in the NJCAA Region III, Division II Semifinals held at Niagara County Community College.  The two teams met up twice already this season, both decided by less than 10 points and both going to the Tribunes.  There is also a long history of these two teams meeting in the playoff's so it was certain to be a good game.  After 12 minutes of play had gone by, the Jayhawks had taken a 16-13 lead.  The teams continued to play tough defense and with a little less than 4 minutes to play the teams were tied at 26-26.  Then the Tribunes then went on a run, and with less than a minute and a half remaining, the Tribunes were up 33-27.  Both teams continued to attack the basket and when the first half came to a close the score read Tribunes 37, Jayhawks 32.

The second half had the Jayhawks come out hot and go on a 10-1 run in the first 4 minutes to take a 42-38 lead.  Both teams stayed aggressive and with less than 8 minutes things were tight with the Jayhawks holding a slim 59-58 lead.  The teams would clamp down on defense the score would be tied 63-63 with a little more than 5 minutes left to play.  The Jayhawks would hold the Tribunes scoreless and take a 67-63 lead with 4 minutes left to play.  Both teams would keep after each other with their seasons on the line and with a minute and half left to play it was a 5 point ball game with the Jayhawks up 73-68.  The Jayhawks would hold onto that 5 points lead the rest of the game and down the Tribunes 81-75.

The Jayhawks will play the Cougars of Genesee Community College at 3 pm on Saturday.  The teams split during the regular season with the Cougars winning the first time at home 78-65 and the Jayhawks winning  the second time at home in an epic overtime thriller.  This should be an excellent match up for the NJCAA Region III, Division II Final Four.
