Jayhawks Look to Knock-Off the Thunderwolves Friday Night

JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Community College men's basketball team will look to even the season series against Niagara County Community College on Friday night.

 

The Jayhawks (1-2, 0-1 WNYAC) are coming off their first win of the season, knocking off Lackawanna College last Saturday, 96-91. JCC had six players reach double-digit scoring led by redshirt-sophomore guard Isaac Allen (Houston, TX/Texas Connection Academy) and freshman guard Joseph Okonoboh (Boston, MA/Bradford Christian Academy) with 20 points each. sophomore forward Jacob Hougan (Chardon, OH/Chardon HS) finished with 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds (4 offense, 4 defense).

 

The last time the two teams face, NCCC came away with a 72-54 home victory. Allen led all scorers with 21 points. freshman forward Karl Jayseus (West Palm Beach, FL/Someset Academy Canyons) led JCC in rebounding, grabbing eight boards (4 offense, 4 defense). freshman guard Kyle Butler (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool HS) was second on the team with seven rebounds (2 offense, 5 defense).

 

On the season, the Jayhawks are averaging 77.7 points per game on 39.2 percent shooting from the floor. Allen leads the way on offense, averaging 23 points per game. Hougan is second on the team with 10.3 points per contest. Sophomore guard/forward Henry Brown, Jr. (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg HS North) has been consistent for the Jayhawks, scoring 9.3 points per game. The offense has been ran through Butler where he is averaging 8.3 assists per game.

 

On the defensive side of the ball, the Jayhawks are allowing 83.7 points per game on 43.3 percent from the field. As a team, JCC averages 40.3 rebounds per game. Butler, Okonoboh, Hougan, and Brown, Jr. all average just over five board per game. Butler has been active on the defensive side of the ball, averaging 3.3 steals per game.

 

The Thunderwolves (5-0, 1-0 WNYAC) are coming off a 112-76 over Bryant & Stratton Albany this past Wednesday. 13 players scored for NCCC led by Justin Hendrick with 17 points. Allen Fordham chipped in with 16 points.

 

The last time they faced JCC, NCCC was led offensively by Kailee White with 18 points with Hendrick adding 14 points. Hendrick and Allen Fordham led the team with seven rebounds each.

 

On the season, NCCC is averaging 85.5 points per game on 43.6 percent shooting from the floor. White leads the way with 21 points per game with Hendrick adding 10.7 points per game. White also leads the team in assists per game with 4.3.

 

On the defensive side of the ball, the Thunderwolves are allowing 66.5 points per game on 38.1 percent shooting from the field. As a team, NCCC is averaging 45.3 rebounds per game. LaMarcus Merchant, Jr. and White led the way for the Thunderwovles, averaging 4.8 rebounds a game each.

 

The teams will meet at the Physical Education Complex Friday evening with a tip set at 7:30 p.m.
