Jayhawks look to knock-off No. 9 ECC tomorrow afternoon

JAMESTOWN – Look to get their first conference win of the season, the Jamestown Community College men’s basketball team will look to get it over No. 9 Erie Community College.

 

The Jayhawks (7-12, 0-5 WNYAC) are coming off a 98-70 against Genesee Community College this past Wednesday. Jordan Thomas continued the lead the offense, scoring 19 points with Kyle Butler adding 16 points. On the glass, Thomas corralled eight rebounds.

 

The last time these two teams faced, JCC fell to ECC by a score of 107-77. Thomas netted 22 points with Kane Kenyon and Sheick Kourmora scoring 15 points each.  Isaac Butler III had a good game for the Jayhawks coming off the bench, scoring seven points and grabbing a team-high seven rebounds (2 offense, 5 defense).

 

In conference action, the Jayhawks are scoring 70. 4 points per game while shooting an even 40 percent from the floor. In conference play, Thomas is averaging 20.8 points per game with Kourmora adding 13.8 points per game.

 

On the glass, Jamestown is averaging 33.8 rebounds per game. Thomas is leading the way on the glass, grabbing 6.8 rebounds per game. Jake Hougan is collecting 5.6 rebounds per game.

 

For the Kats, they have posted a record of 17-3 and a perfect 5-0 record in conference action. Their last time out, ECC gutted out a 93-87 overtime win over No. 13 Niagara County Community College. The Kats had five players scored double digits with Ladji Fofana leading the way with 25 points and added nine rebounds, a tea-high.

 

The last time they faced the Jayhawks, Ahamadou Fofana was the main source of offense, scoring 25 points. Tavien Kemp added 19 points. On the glass, L. Fofana had a team-high seven rebounds.

 

In conference play, the Kats are averaging 99 points per game while shooting 53.2 percent from the floor. ECC has four players that are averaging double digits with L. Fofana leading the way with 21 points per game. A. Fofana is not far behind, averaging 17.8 points per contest.

 

On the glass, the Kats are averaging 39 rebounds per game. L. Fofana is also leading that category, grabbing 8.3 rebounds per game.
