JCC's Chyann Kelly Commits to Buffalo State for Basketball

JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College's Chyann Kelly (Bailey, CO / Platte Canyon HS) has committed to continuing her academic and athletic careers at Buffalo State University in Buffalo, New York.

Kelly appeared in 51 games for the Jayhawks, where she averaged over seven points as a sophomore, with four rebounds and two assists per game, and earned Second Team All-Region for the Jayhawks.

The Bailey, Colorado native plans to study TV/film production at Buff St. while playing ball for the Tigers. "I gained experience in editing, filming, and writing for films. I also learned a lot about myself and being independent," said Kelly.

The guard was a captain for the Jayhawks basketball team and left a last legacy on the athletic department, and she says it had a major impact on her as well, "JCC hoops taught me how to see the floor, how to overcome bad games," added Chyann.

Kelly now takes those skills up I-90 to Buffalo, "I chose Buff State because the coaches and players I have talked about having similar goals and a desire to win. I feel I can make a difference at Buff State and leave behind a legacy that will impact players for years to come. Buff

State also has an extremely good program for media and communication/ film and TV, so I will be set up well for my career," mentioned the sophomore.

While reflecting on her time as a Jayhawk, Kelly added, "My best memory as a Jayhawk was beating Bryant and Stratton my freshman year because the game was really competitive and chippy. I would also say the game this year against Erie when I had my college career high, got elbowed in the eye, and came back in the game with a head wrap on."
