2nd period run proves to be difference maker in Jayhawks loss

The JCC Jayhawks women's basketball team (0-3) went on the road to face the Panthers of Tompkins Cortland Community College (2-1).  The Jayhawks started out with a quick 3 point advantage but the Panthers closed the gap and got ahead just as quickly and went on a run to end the first period ahead of the Jayhawks 10-17.  The second period saw the Jayhawks fall behind badly with the Panthers taking a 27-12 advantage, but the Jayhawks fought their way back into the game and were within 4 points of the Panthers with 2 minutes to play, but the Panthers pulled away again to take a 40-30 half time lead.  The third period saw the Jayhawks come out strong and outscored the Panthers 17-15 as they narrowed the Panthers advantage to 55-47.  The Jayhawks stayed within 9 points of the Panthers for most of the 4th period, with the Panthers pulling away at the very end to secure a 74-61 win over the Jayhawks.

 The Jayhawks were led by #4 Emilee Sperry (Panama) who had 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists; #33 Brianne Davis (Bemus Point) had 15 points and 3 rebounds; #24 Kelly Keefe (Jamestown) had 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals; #22 Jada Jackson (Wellsboro) had 7 points and 4 steals; #20 Sydney Wight (Wellsville) had 4 points and 7 rebounds; #11 Hayden Burgeson (Lakewood) had 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists; and #50 Quinn Bankoski (Dunkirk) had 3 rebounds.
