Women's Basketball vs Mercyhurst NE

The JCC Jayhawks women's basketball team (NJCAA Div II, 7-18) hosted the Saints of Mercyhurst NE College (NJCAA Div II, 8-12) for their last regular season home game of the season.  The Jayhawks honored their sophomores before the game and with this being their last game of the season, the Jayhawks came out on fire and were up 16-8 after 8 minutes of play.  The Saints did not lay down and they caught back up to the Jayhawks with less than 10 minutes to play in the first half.  Both teams swapped the lead and with only a few seconds on the clock the Saints hit a 3 pointer to jump ahead 33-31.  The second half began with the Jayhawks catching back up to tie the Saints, and then fell back, and then tied them one more time 43-43.  The Saints then took advantage of costly, ill-advised passes by the Jayhawks and dominated the boards, but the Jayhawks never relented, keeping the game close.  With the score 55-51 in favor of the Saints, the Jayhawks were gaining momentum, but a clutch 3 points shot by the Saints seemed to break their will and the Saints went on a 12-3 run to close out the game with a come from behind win over the Jayhawks 70-54.   The Jayhawks were led by #30 Natalie Houle 's (Sherman) 16 points and 3 rebounds; #43 Kelsey Johnson 's (Panama) 10 points and 4 rebounds; #4 Bianca Brown 's (Niagara Falls) 10 points; #33 Brianne Davis ' (Bemus Point) 9 points and 6 assists; and #32 Alisha Szumigala 's (Forestville) 7 points and 8 rebounds.
