Kats Late 2nd Period Run Dooms Jayhawks

The JCC Jayhawks women's basketball team (6-10) went on the road to face the Kats of Erie Community College (7-10).  The Jayhawks fell behind early, down 8-3 with 5 minutes gone but rebounded quickly with quick scores by #4 Emilee Sperry (Panama) and #22 Jada Jackson (Wellsboro) to tie the game 8-8 and the first period ended in the Kats favor 13-9.  The second period had the Jayhawks battle their way back into the game, with both teams swapping the lead and a 17-17 tie score with 5 minutes left to play.  Then the Kats went on a run, outscoring the Jayhawks 13-0 in less than 4 minutes and the first half came to a close with Jayhawks down 32-21. 

The third period saw the Jayhawks attempt to catch up but the Kats continued to put points on the board and keep their lead 41-30 after 5 minutes of play.  The final 5 minutes of the third period saw the Kats extend their lead to 49-32.  The fourth period saw the Kats take a 20 point lead 54-34 before the Jayhawks started heating up.  With less than 3 minutes left, the Jayhawks narrowed the Kats lead to 10 points, down 59-49.  The Kats would hold on and down the Jayhawks 65-56. 

The Jayhawks were led by #4 Emilee Sperry (Panama) who had 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists; #22 Jada Jackson (Wellsboro) had a double double consisting of 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals; #11 Hayden Burgeson (Lakewood) had 6 points and 4 rebounds; #45 Tayler Morrison (Australia) 6 points and 3 rebounds; #33 Brianne Davis (Bemus Point) had 5 points and 3 rebounds; #21 Alexis Hallberg (Bemus Point) had 4 points and 3 rebounds; and #20 Sydney Wight (Wellsville) had 5 rebounds.
