Hicks Records a Double-Double; Jayhawks fall to NCCC, 114-88

SANBORN - In their first Region 3 action of the season, the Jamestown Community College women's basketball team fell to Niagara County Community College by the score of 114-88.

 

The Jayhawks (1-4, 0-1 WNYAC) were led by freshman forward Hannah Hicks (Cleveland, OH, Cleveland Heights) as she recorded her third double-double of the season, scoring 14 points while grabbing 15 rebounds (8 offense, 7 defense) while adding a career-high six blocks. Hicks also had a career-high four steals.

 

Freshman guard Nadara Odell (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) led the charge offensively, scoring a team-high 21 points. Freshman guard Sydney Burk (Jamestown, NY/Southwestern High) added 11 points with freshman Kate Tedquist (Penrose, CO/Canon City HS) and Amari Carter (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) chipping in with 10 points each.

 

Odell also had a strong night on the glass, grabbing nine boards (5 offense, 4 defense) with Carter adding eight rebounds (4 offense, 4 defense).

 

For the Thunderwolves, Gabrielle McDuffle had a game-high 39 points to go with 15 rebounds (5 offense, 10 defense). Kiya Marquez added 21 points with Eliza Conyers chipping in with 11 boards (4 offense, 7 defense).

 

NCCC had the advantage on the paint, outscoring JCC 66-56. The Jayhawks took advantage of their extra possession, scoring 29 second chance points to NCCC's 16. NCCC did take advantage of the fastbreak, scoring 32 points to JCC's 14 points.

 

The Jayhawks will travel back to Sanborn on Monday, March 22nd, for a 6 p.m. tip.
