Slow First and Fourth Quarters Clip Jayhawks

JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College looked good in the middle 20 minutes of their loss to Niagara County Community College, but a slow start and finish doomed JCC in their 69-40 loss.

Jamestown started the game up a pair after Bethan Wallace hit a layup and a pair of free throws, but things fell apart from there.

NCCC put together an 11-2 run things in large part to Rachel Kamrowski's three. She made a pair of long-range shots off the bench for the Thunderwolves.

The Jamestown deficit hit 17 before Myla Truitt got a steal and a bucket for two of her 12 to make it a 27-12 game. The hole grew to over 20 before the half ended, but a couple of threes from Hayley Dawson gave JCC a puncher's chance entering the breakdown by 20. Dawson had a team-high 13 to go along with six rebounds off the bench.

The Jayhawks' best stretch came in the third quarter, with Dawson and Truitt hitting back-to-back buckets to get the lead back down under 20.

Things slipped away in the fourth quarter, where JCC was outscored 14-6 in those final ten minutes.

JCC hit just one field goal in the final 3:41 before falling by 29.

The loss snaps a two-game winning streak, and puts JCC to 10-12 on the season.

They return to action on Tuesday with Erie Community College coming to town.
