Lundmark's Double-Double Powers Jayhawks to Win

JAMESTOWN, NY - When you don't have your 'A Game' you need to dig inside and pull out a win.

That's exactly what the Jayhawks did to earn a 60-56 home win over Sheridan College Bruins inside the JCC PHED Complex Sunday afternoon.

Jamestown started the game looking for a blowout, building an early 9-2 lead after the first quarter.

Bethan Wallace (Toronto, Canada / Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts) got the scoring started with a layup. The two were part of her ten on the day. It was a special day for Wallace, who is a Toronto native and was playing the Bruins, a team from down the street from her hometown.

The second quarter was a much closer battle.

Jamestown's lead grew to 10 on a three from Keturah Stewart (Bethlehem, PA / Freedom HS), who finished the day with a team-high 18 points.

The game then evened out, with Jamestown holding a 22-16 advantage going to the locker room.

Sheridan started the third on fire, drawing to a tie at 25-25.

JCC's Courtney Martin (Bemus Point, NY / Maple Grove Central) snatched the lead back with a rebound and a putback to make it 27-25, but we'd go to the final stanza all knotted up at 37-37.

The Bruins took their first lead of the game shortly after the start of the fourth when Damika Wanrer hit a bunny. She had a game-high 21.

Jamestown would fall behind by as much as four before Grace Lundmark (Falconer, NY / Falconer HS) took over. She finished the game with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

The Jayhawks were up just two with five seconds left on the clock, but Myla Truitt (Tuscon, AZ / Pueblo HS) was clutch at the charity stripe, knocking down a pair to give us the 60-56 finals.

The win is four out of five for JCC.

The ladies are off until Wednesday when they travel north for Niagara CCC to take on Mohawk Valley Community College in the NCCC MLK Tournament.
