JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College used a balanced offensive attack to take down Butler in the women's finale of the Jayhawk Classic 64-40.

JCC fell behind early, 7-2, but from there Jamestown had total control of the ball game.

After the quick hole, the Jayhawks took the lead on a Grace Lundmark (Falconer, NY / Falconer HS) at the 6:28 mark of the first. That was part of a run that saw Jamestown stretch out to a 19-10 lead and a 22-13 advantage at the end of the quarter.

The second 10 minutes went the same way, with the Jayhawks winning that frame 17-9.

The lead was aided by threes from Keturah Stewart (Bethlehem, PA / Freedom HS), who had a team-high 18 points. Her triple early in the quarter put JCC up 14, 27-13.

The lead at the break was 39-22, with Jamestown running out several different lineups under head coach Dave Turnbull.

The advantage stayed right around 20 for most of those final 20 minutes. Chyann Kelly (Bailey, CO / Platte Canyon HS) and Courtney Martin (Bemus Point, NY / Maple Grove Central) did a lot of the Jayhawk scoring, putting up 11 and eight, respectively.

JCC took the second half 25-18 for the final 24-point win.

The victory moves JCC to 3-7 on the year.

Jamestown is back on the court on Wednesday, December 13th, when they visit Genesee Community College at 5:00 pm.
