JCC Women Open the Season with a Victory Over Lakeland

JAMESTOWN, NY - It was a perfect start to the 2023-24 campaign for the JCC women's basketball team, knocking off Lakeland Community College 69-59 in front of the home crowd.

Jamestown fell behind early, trailing 20-13 after the first quarter and 34-32 at the half, but a strong final 20 minutes vaulted Jamestown to the win.

The Jayhawks were led by freshman Keturah Stewart (Bethlehem, PA / Freedom HS) who poured in 27 and sophomore Grace Lundmark (Falconer, NY / Falconer HS) added 20 point each on the night.

Stewart was big from the charity stripe, knocking down nine of her 12 attempts. She added three triples in the first quarter to keep things close.

Lundmark did most of her damage late, scoring 14 in the second half.

The win moves JCC to 1-0 on the year.

They now hit the road for the weekend with a game Saturday at Fulton-Mongomery Community College and then Sunday at Jefferson Community College.
