Women's Basketball Gets Season Sweep Over The Kats

BUFFALO - In their final regional road game of the regular season, the Jamestown Community College women's basketball team got the season sweep of Erie Community College by a score of 75-26.

 

The Jayhawks (12-8, 5-2 Region 3) were led by sophomores D'Auzhany Harden (Erie, PA/Erie HS) and Hannah Hicks (Cleveland, OH/Cleveland Heights) who each had double-doubles on the night. Harden went for 26 points and 10 rebounds (4 offense, 6 defense) and Hicks with 16 points and 14 rebounds (6 offense, 8 defense). Harden also had six steals with Hicks adding five assists.

 

Up 19-11 after the first quarter, JCC created more separation during the second quarter by outscoring the Kats 15-3. Harden spearheaded the attack, scoring eight points.

 

Continuing the effort throughout the third period, the Jayhawks finished strong with a 26-5 difference in the final frame. This time, freshman guard Angelique Palacio (Tucson, AZ/Desert View HS) and Harden provided the offense, scoring eight points apiece.

 

JCC went 35-for-75 (46.7 percent) from the floor with ECC going 8-for-45 (17.8 percent) from the field. The Jayhawks also held a monster advantage on the glass, grabbing 50 rebounds to the Kats' 30 rebounds.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Friday, February 10th, as thy travel to take on Bryant & Stratton College-Syracuse for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
