Jayhawks Fly Past The Kats

JAMESTOWN – Playing in their first Region 3 game of the semester, the Jamestown Community College women's basketball team came away with a 60-39 win over Erie Community College Saturday afternoon.

 

The Jayhawks (8-7, 3-1 Region 3) were led by sophomore forward Hannah Hicks (Cleveland, OH/Cleveland Heights) with 20 points and 17 rebounds (5 offense, 12 defense) with sophomore guard D'Auzhanay Harden (Erie, PA/Erie HS) adding 14 points in the effort. Freshman guard Angelique Palacio (Tucson, AZ/Desert View HS) came up big on the glass, grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds (3 offense, 8 defense).

 

After taking a 26-14 lead into halftime, JCC made adjustments to score 23 points in the third quarter behind 10 points from Hicks.

 

The Jayhawks went 27-for-61 (44.3 percent) from the field while the Kats went 14-for-57 (24.6 percent) from the floor. JCC held a monster advantage on the glass, grabbing 52 rebounds to ECC's 31.

 

JCC will have a quick turnaround as they will be back in action Monday evening against Cuyahoga Community College at 5 p.m.
