Lundmark and Hicks Record Double-Doubles To Power JCC Past Wayne County

JAMESTOWN – On the second day of the Jayhawk Classic, the Jamestown Community College women's basketball team came away with a win against Wayne County Community College by a score of 60-52.

 

The Jayhawks (4-6) were led by their post players, each recording a double-double on the afternoon. Freshman Grace Lundmark (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) scored 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds (8 offense, 8 defense) with sophomore Hannah Hicks (Cleveland, OH/Cleveland Heights) scoring 10 points and hauled in 21 rebounds (7 offense, 14 defense). Sophomore Zalika Stevens (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/Thornlea Secondary School) provided great minutes off the bench, scoring 14 points.

 

The teams played even through the first three quarters of action with the Wild Cats holding a 49-46 lead going into the final frame. The Jayhawks clamped down on defense in the final quarter, outscoring Wayne County 14-3 to secure the win.

 

JCC used a 12-0 run in the start of the fourth quarter thanks to eight points from Hicks and four points from Stevens.

 

The Jayhawks went 26-for-81 (32.1 percent) from the floor with the Wild Cats going 17-for-69 (24.6 percent) from the field. The teams were fairly even on the glass with JCC grabbing 60 rebounds to Wayne County's 58 rebounds.

 

JCC will be back in action this Wednesday, December 7th, as they host Niagara County Community College at 5:30 p.m.
