Jayhawks Post Season Preview

Jayhawks Post Season Preview
The Jamestown Community College Jayhawks are headed to Genesee to face the Cougars of Genesee Community College in the NJCAA Region III Sub Regional Game.  The two teams have faced off twice this year, and with two evenly matched teams the games were close (64-59 and 65-63) with the Cougars winning both games.  We caught up with Head Coach Travis Wells for some Q & A about the upcoming Regionals and the season so far:
  1. Who is your biggest competitor? Monroe CC went through the conference undefeated 10.
  2. What are you most looking forward to about regionals? The rematch with GCC, we've been in close games with them and lost so the girls and I are looking forward to a rematch and a win!
  3. Who are your top performers?  Emilee Sperry and Jada Jackson
  4. How has the season been so far? (laughs) At the beginning of the year we wanted to play our best ball in march. We had some ups and downs and we are now in the month of March playing our best ball. We're satisfied with where we are at now because we have gotten better throughout the season.
  5. What have your biggest challenges been and how have you worked to overcome them?  Biggest challenge has been getting a perfect game out of the girls. We haven't been able to play all forty minutes to perfection quite yet but we're getting there. Also, rebounding has been a struggle. We try to stress it and work on it everyday in practice.
  6. What are you looking forward to next year? -We have a good returning core and a good freshmen class coming in. So it's onward and upward from here.
