Records fall at Erie Invite as Swan and Johnson Dominate

BUFFALO, NY - Jamestown Community College has a trio of new records after women's diver Ashlynn Swan and men's swimmer Maxim Johnson put on a performance that won't soon be forgotten in the Erie Invite at Erie Communiy College.

Swan set new program records in the 1 meter 6 dive with a 259.45, winning the event by almost 40 points. She then went on to win and set another school record in the 6 dive 3 meter, scoring a 204.80.

Johnson put his name at the top of the Jayhawk leaderboard in the 1,000 meter free men's event, notching an 11:04.10.

Turning our attention back to the dive pool, Shaylyn Owens put up a qualifying score in 1 meter diving, posting a 162.10.

Let's look at the rest of the JCC finishers in the order they occurred.

The team of Anna JonesLindsey SpitzHayley Dawson, and Paiden Wittmeyer took home first in the women's 200-yard medley relay.

On the men's side, Brady LindstromToby GiffordColton Schuman, and Rinat Kalimullin placed fourth.

In the women's 1,000-yard free, the Jayhawks captured the top two spots ,with Ella Fosberg just edging out teammate Jones-Carrillo.

Wittmeyer took the top spot in the 200-yard women's free, while Owens earned second in the 50-yard free.

Johnson showed he could swim the quick events as well, taking first in the 50-yard men's free.

It was an all-Jamestown podium for the women's 200 IM, with Spitz taking gold, Dawson silver, and Fosberg bronze.

Lindstrom claimed the top spot on the men's side of the 200 IM.

Wittmeyer also brought home first in the 100-yard butterfly, teammate Max Johnson earned second on the men's side. Stacey Blackler was the top finished in the women's 100-yard free.

Jamestown took fourth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and tenth in men's 100 free.

It was another podium sweep for the ladies in the 100-yard backstroke, where Spitz was first, Dawson second, and Fosberg third. Lindstrom took fourth for the men.

Flipping back to the distance swimmers, Jones-Cassillo and Wittmeyer scored second and third, respectfully, in the 500-yard freestyle. Schuman and Lukas Baer were second and third in the men's event.

The penultimate event was the 100-yard breaststroke. Jamestown again captured the top three spots with Spitz, Jones-Cassillo, and Blacker. Meanwhile, the men took second from Lindstrom, seventh from Gifford, and tenth from Randall Hall.

Lastly, the 400-yard free relay, where the ladies team of Jones-Carrillo, Fosberg, Dawson, and Wittmeyer won, and the men took second with Lindstrom, Johnson, Kalimullin, and Gifford.

Next for both swim teams is a WNYAC Meet at Genesee Community College on Wednesday, January 24th, at 6:00.
