Jayhawks Split At Fredonia State Tri-Meet

FREDONIA - In their final regular swim of the season, the Jamestown Community College women's swimming and diving split at the Fredonia State Tri-Meet.

 

The Jayhawks took down Medaille College by a score of 114-45 but were defeated by Fredonia State by a score of 146-66.

 

"A lot of great swimmers tonight," said head coach Todd Conklin. "The kids have been working hard and as the regular season ends, we're really focused on the next level of our championship season. Championship season will kick off in the middle of February, and these kids will be ready and excited for some big drops."

 

Newcomer Lindsey Spitz (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) had a strong first meet of the season, picking up a pair of wins. Spitz finished first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:17.17 and first in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:54.83. Madison Kramer (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) picked up a win in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.44 and followed that up with a second place finish in the 100 yard butterfly with a new personal best with a time of 1:02.75.

 

Stacey Blackler (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Edenvale HS) showed improvement throughout the meet, getting personal best in her three individual events. Blackler posted a 1:26.35 in the 100 yard breaststroke, 29.13 in the 50 yard freestyle, and 2:42.07 in the 200 yard IM. Kylee Hennessy (Warren, PA/Warren Area HS) showed the biggest improvement on the season, posting a time of 3:08.69 in the 200 yard IM, shaving nearly four seconds off her previous best time.

 

"Kylee (Hennessy) was awesome tonight as she continues to get better everyday in the pool and getting the results we need," Conklin added.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Saturday, January 28th, as they travel to the Genesee Community College Last Chance Meet.
