Kramer Wins a Pair; JCC Finishes 5th in Snow Flurries Invitational

CORTLAND, NY - Jamestown Community College women's swimming and diving finished fifth in the Snow Flurry Invitational at SUNY Cortland.

"It was a great meet for our teams! We really swam well with everyone improving. Maddie Kramer with three individual wins. Max (Johnson) with one individual win. Ella Fosberg really impressed with her swims and drops. Anna Jones first meet and such great swims," said head coach Todd Conklin.
 
The Jayhawks witnessed another outstanding performance from sophomore Madison Kramer (Falconer, NY / Falconer HS), who took home first in the 100-yard backstroke and won the 200-yard backstroke. Teammate Ella Fosberg (Jamestown, NY / Southwestern Central School) came in 6th in the 200.

Jamestown had a fantastic showing in the 200-yard breaststroke, with Lindsey Spitz (Jamestown, NY / Jamestown HS) taking 3rd, Stacey Blackler (Edenvale, Gauteng, South Africa / Edanvale HS) 9th, and Anna Jones (Jamestown, NY / Southwestern Central School) 12th. Blackler also swam the 200 yard free, where she notched a 12th place finish.

Switching to 100-yard butterfly, Paiden Wittmeyer (Stockton, NY / Cassadaga Central) claimed 9th while Jones-Carrillo was 10th.

In the 100-yard breakstroke, Spitz earned another top-three finish, taking 3rd just seconds off the leader's pace, and teammate Shaylyn Owens (Delevan, NY / Pioneer Central) was 14th.

Over to 100-yard freestyle, Wittmeyer clocked in 4th with Owens in 20th.

In the relays, JCC took 2nd in the 400-yard medley behind Fosberg, Spitz, Kramer, and Wittmeyer. The group of Kramer, Wittmeyer, Fosberg, and Blackler earned a 4th in the 400 freestyle relay, and the unit of Jones-Carrillo, Wittmeyer, Blackler, and Kramer captured 5th in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Finally, the distance swimmers saw Fosberg claim 7th.

"We had a great first half of our season and we are really looking forward to having the next month to focus on training before we start the second semester. We have large goals ahead of us and I know our kids are ready to impress in the second half," added Conklin.

The team has a long break coming up. JCC isn't back in the competitive waters until they visit Erie Community College for the Erie Invite on Friday, January 12th.
