Kramer Named NJCAA Non-Scholarship Athlete Of The Year And NJCAA Non-Scholarship Swimmer Of The Meet At Nationals

BUFFALO – On the final day of the 2023 NJCAA Swimming & Diving National Championships, the Jamestown Community College women's swimming & diving team posted some of their best times of the year, taking home more hardware.

 

The Jayhawks finished in seventh place in the overall standings and third in the non-scholarship division with 242 points, seven points behind Monroe and Genesee Community College.

 

"I'm super proud of this group of swimmers," said head coach Todd Conklin. "This group rewrote the record book and performed as good as they could. Their leadership and sportsmanship this week was really special and made me proud to coach such a great group. They are champions in my eyes."

 

Day four was highlighted by Madison Kramer (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) who was named the NJCAA Non-Scholarship Swimmer of the Meet and NJCAA Non-Scholarship Swimmer of the Year after a stellar season in the green and gold.

 

Starting the day from Kramer, she posted a time of 2:12.09 in the 200 yard backstroke prelims which set a new school and Region 3 record. Kramer came back in the finals with an exceptional time of 2:07.58 to finish fourth and adding another All-American honor to her resume.

 

Lindsey Spitz (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) also had a record-breaking performance on the final day, setting a new school record in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:39.02 in the prelims. In the finals, Spitz backed that performance with a time of 2:37.98 for a 10th place finish.

 

Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Fourways HS) made her way into the night session in the 100 yard freestyle, swimming a time of 59.16 in the prelims. In the finals, Fiebiger posted a time of 58.23 for a 13th place finish.

 

Hannah Eckert (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS) also had a strong swim in the 200 yard backstroke, posting a time of 2:39.02 in the prelims. In the finals, Eckert came back and shaved over four seconds off that time to finish in 16th place with a time of 2:34.32.

 

To cap off the week, the 400 yard freestyle relay team of Kramer, Eckert, Spitz, and Fiebiger set a new school record with a time of 3:53.26.
