Many Record Fall On Day Two Of Regionals

ROCHESTER - Heading into day two of the 2023 NJCAA Region 3 Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Monroe Community College, the Jamestown Community College women's swimming & diving team continues to roll, setting numerous school, regional meet, and pool records.

 

In the morning session, Madison Kramer (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) got things going for the Jayhawks in the 50 yard backstroke, finishing first with a time of 28.33 which set new school, regional, and pool records. Hannah Eckert (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS) placed third in the event with a time of 32.15.

 

Kramer continued her strong performance in the 100 yard butterfly, placing first with a time of 1:02.08, a new school record. Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa/Fourways HS) placed third in the event, setting a new personal best with a time of 1:07.47.

 

In the 200 yard freestyle, Stacey Blackler (Johannesburg, Gautneg, South Africa/Edenvale HS) shaved nearly five seconds off her previous best time with a time of 2:17.92 which placed her second.

 

The 200 yard relay team of Kramer, Eckert, Blackler, and Fiebiger placed first with a time of 1:48.37. The 400 yard medley relay team of Kramer, Fiebiger, Eckert, and Lindsey Spitz (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) also placed first with a time of 4:28.10, a new school record.

 

In the evening session, the Jayhawks started out with a second place finish by Blackler in the 100 yard IM with a time of 1:12.29. Kylee Hennessy (Warren, PA/Warren Area HS) set a new personal best in the event, finishing with a time of 1:22.14.

 

In the 100 yard backstroke, Kramer placed first with a new school record time of 1:01.17 and Eckert placing second with a time of 1:10.93. In the 100 yard breaststroke, Spitz placed first with a time of 1:13.94 and Hennessy placing third with a time of 1:33.55. Fibiger rounded out the individual events by placing second in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:53.25.

 

To round out the evening, the team of Kramer, Spitz, Fiebiger, and Eckert placed first in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:59.72, a new school record.

 

The Jayhawks currently sit in second place with a score of 350 going into the final session.

 

JCC will be back in action tomorrow, February 12th, for the final session starting at 10 a.m.
