Jayhawks' Swimming and Diving Earns 56 All-Region First Team Honors

ROCHESTER, NY - The accolades keep rolling in for Jamestown Community College's men's and women's swimming and diving teams as the Jayhawks received 56 Region 3 All-Region First Team honors. The ladies, who won last week's regional championship at Monroe Community College in convincing fashion garnered 48 of the 50 First Team honors. Madison Kramer, who was named the female swimmer of the meet, earned the award in 50 backstroke, 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, and 100 fly. Lindsey Spitz was also tabbed four times for winning the 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, and the 200 individual medley. The Jayhawks' Paiden Wittmeyer snagged three by leading the region in the 50 freestyle, 50 fly, and 100 individual medley. Ella Fosberg also took home three honors in the 500 freestyle, 1,000 freestyle, and 1650 freestyle. Teammates Hayley Dawson and Ashlynn Swan each captured a pair of first teams by winning the 200 fly and 400 individual medley for Dawson and the 1-meter and 3-meter dives for Swan.

The JCC ladies swept the acknowledgments in relays as well. In the 200 free is was Kramer, Anna Jones, Dawson, and Wittmeyer. The 200 medley was won by Kramer, Spitz, Wittmeyer, and Jones. The team of Kramer, Wittmeyer, Jones, and Dawson took home the 400 free. In the 400 medley it was Fosberg, Spitz, Kramer, and Wittmeyer. Lastly, Fosberg, Stacey Blacker, Jones, and Dawson won the 800 free relay.

On the men's side, the Jayhawks took home eight All-Region First Team honors. Those were handed out to Maxim Johnson and Brady Lindstrom, who received four spots. Johnson, the male swimmer of the meet, won 50 freestyle, 50 fly, 100 fly, and 200 fly. Brady Lindstrom dominated the breaststroke, winning the 50, 100, and 200, as well as the 100 individual medley.

Jamestown also captured a handful of places on the Second Team. Shaylyn Owens grabbed the 100 free, Blackler 200 free and 100 individual medley, Fosberg the 200 backstroke, Dawson the 200 breaststroke and 200 individual medley, Jones the 200 fly and 400 individual medley, and Wittmeyer added to her trophy case with a Second Team award in the 100 fly.

The guys also saw their names on the second team list. Lukas Baer for the 100 free, and the relay team of Lindstrom, Toby Gifford, Johnson, and Rinat Kalimullin finished second in the 200 medley.

The Jayhawks now focus on the national championships, which take place in Fort Pierce, Florida, from March 6th through the 9th.
