JCC Wrestling Travels to Michigan for Whizzer Open

DEARBORN, MI - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) wrestling team made the trip up to Henry Ford College in Michigan on Saturday to take the mats for the Whizzer Open.

Despite losing his opening round match, Ryan Parton had the best showing for the Jayhawks, finishing the event with a 2-2 record. After the loss, the sophomore bounced back with a pair of impressive wins, first a pin at 1:23, then a major victory, 11-0. Parton lost his next match to just miss out on the podium at 141 pounds.

Gavin Warner also wrestled at 141 and lost his first bout. He turned that around to secure a 22-5 tech fall before bowing out in the third round, with a 1-2 record.

In 149 pounds, Nicholas Ewan started with a bang, taking his opening round match 18-4 to stay in the winners bracket. The sophomore then dropped back-to-back matches to finish with a 1-2 record.

Next up for the Jayhawks is the district championships at Ulster Community College on Saturday, February 22nd.
