HIRAM, Ohio - Closing out the fall portion of the season, the Jamestown Community College wrestling defeated NCAA Division III opponent 23-12 Saturday afternoon.

The Jayhawks (2-0) found themselves in a 6-0 hole early, falling in the first two matches of the day. De'Aonte Hutchinson (Baltimore, MD/Edgewood HS) battled throughout his match but ended up falling to Grayson Smith via 10-8 sudden victory-1. Brendon Ramsey (Panama, NY.Panama Central) was in the same boat, getting beat by a 6-4 decision against Alex Savering.

Joey Pillittieri (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) got JCC on the board, defeating Kaelon Lawson-West by a 20-5 tech.fall to make it a 6-5 dual. The Terriers got three points back in the next match as Seth Holt got a 4-2 decision victory over Adam Sanchez (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS).

Andrew Bungar (Hermitage, PA/Hickory HS) got the Jayhawks their first lead of the dual, getting the fall over Kwame Stewart, needing 2:08 to do so. Ross Abram (Eden, NY/Eden Central) continued the momentum for JCC, making quick work of Jimmy Thomas and getting the fall in 45 seconds.

Brock Johnson (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) helped push the JCC lead to 23-9, earning the forfeit victory.

In the heavyweight match, the big men grinded throughout the duration of the match as Devan Welch got a 1-0 decision win over Alex Christy (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia HS).

In exhibition action, Christy redeemed himself with a fall over Isaac DeVault, needing 2:14. Johnson also saw more time on the mat, getting a 6-2 decision win over Zach Harper.

The Jayhawks will be off until January 5th, as they travel to Louisville, KY to compete in the National Duals.
