Jayhawks End Regular Season With Win at Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. - Closing out the regular season, the Jamestown Community College wrestling team came away with a 29-15 win over the University of Pitt-Bradford Friday night.

 

The Jayhawks (5-6) after the first two bouts were tied after a pair of forfeits to begin the evening. Joey Pillittieri (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) got JCC the lead in the 141 pound match, getting a 15-0 tech. fall over Farhid Negahban to go up 11-6. James Rankin (Cleveland, NY/Garfield Heights) continued the scoring, earning a forfeit win in the 149 weight class.

 

The Panthers picked up wins in the next two matches to make it a 17-15 score in favor of the Jayhawks. Ross Abram (Eden, NY/Eden HS) got JCC back in the win column, earning a 5-3 decision win over Vic Elias. 

 

After a double forfeit in the 184 pound class, Brock Johnson (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) defeated Nate Powley by a 6-4 decision win. The Jayhawks capped the night off as Alex Christy (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia HS) got the fall over Chase Proudfit, needing 2:02 to do so.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action next Saturday, February 19th, as they host the 2022 NJCAA Eastern A District Championships with action starting at 10 a.m.
