SANBORN – The Jamestown Community College wrestling team showed out Saturday at the Thunderwolves Open, having four wrestlers place.

Taige Jones (141) placed first in his weight class, winning all three of his matches. Jones start his day with a fall over Keegan Warren of St. Clair, needing 4:20 to do so. In the semifinal match, Jones faced fellow teammate Otto Davidson (141), picking up a 15-2 major decision victory. In the first-place match, Jones gutted out a 20-11 major decision win over Isaaiah Smith of Mercyhurst North East.

Colten Studley (141) fought his way to a third-place finish after suffering a loss in the first round. Studley was bested by Jacob Mancuso of Niagara County Community College, getting the fall in five minutes. On the consolation side of the bracket, Studley went to work, getting an 18-1 tech. fall over Matt Gawron of NCCC.

In the next round, Studley got the fall over Warren, needing 4:24 to do so. Advancing to the consolation semifinals match, Studley redeemed himself against Studley, this time getting a 16-1 tech. fall. In the third-place match, Studley got a 15-0 tech. fall victory over Issac Trout of Muskegon.

Dan Torres (174) started his day out fast, majoring Demitrius Smith of Mercyhurst North East with a 13-0 win. In the quarterfinal match, Torres picked up a fall over Jared St. James of St. Clair in 4:29. Advancing to the semifinals match, Torres was defeated by Connor Day of NCAA Division II Gannon University by a 13-6 decision.

Moving to the consolation bracket, Torres rebounded, edging out Adam Mateo of NCCC with a 3-0 decision win. In the third-place match, Torres defeated Colby Deberry of Muskegon via 7-3 decision.

Joey Perry (149) picked up two wins on the day for the Jayhawks. In Perry's first match, he was defeated by Ty Raines of NCAA Division I University of Buffalo by a fall in 4:15. Moving onto the consolation side of the bracket, Perry was rewarded medical forfeit win over Zachary Davidson of Brockport.

In his next match. Perry got a 20-13 decision win over Michael Fronczak of Brockport. Perry's day ended after falling to Ben Hulley of St. Clair via fall in 1:16.

The Jayhawks will be back in action next Saturday, December 14th, as they travel to Ithaca College to face Ithaca and Oswego State.
