Mont Alto, PA – Opening up the season in style, the Jamestown Community College wrestling team took down Penn State Pont Alto Friday evening 33-15.

Starting things off for the Jayhawks at 125 lbs. was De'Aonte Hutchinson (Baltimore, MD/Edgewood HS), earning the forfeit victory to go up 6-0.

After a no contest at 133 lbs., JCC rattled of victories in the next three weight classes. Joey Pillittieri (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) picked up a fall over Matt Deysher, needing 3:51 to do so. Brendon Ramsey (Panama, NY/Panama Central) continued the momentum at 149 lbs., getting the fall over Conner McCabe in the closing seconds in the third period. Trenton Donahue (Corry, PA/Corry Area HS) put the Jayhawks up 23-0 with a tech. fall over Rocco Pontino.

The Nittany Lions did not go away quietly, winning the next three matches to make it a 23-15 dual with two weight classes to go.

Brock Johnson (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) got JCC back on the board, getting the 15-7 major decision win over Kyle Davis at 197 lbs. Alex Christy (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia HS) capped off the night with a forfeit victory in the heavyweight division.

"We had guys move around to different weight classes to do what was best for the team," head coach Kris Schimek said. "Brock looked very composed in his first collegaite match, getting the major decision late in the dual. Overall a great start to the season, the Jayhawks plan to keep it rolling!"

In an exhibition match, Bryson Lagrano picked up a 10-2 major decision win over Shawn Howes.

The Jayhawks will be back in action next Saturday, November 13th, as they compete in the Washington & Jefferson Invitational.
