Fresh Faces Look for Fresh Start within JCC Wrestling

JAMESTOWN, NY - News is the word around the Jamestown Community College wrestling program. The 2023-24 Jayhawks have a new head coach in Brian Dowdall. Jamestown features a roster of 10 newcomers, with nine starting college this fall. That new car smell around the program has some emerging leaders ready to impress with the season just around the corner.

"We're excited. We have a new background to go off. It is totally new coaches. New freshmen. We can build our game off of the new coaches and develop our game. We can just make the most out of the new coaches," said sophomore Kyle Keefe (Falconer, NY / Falconer, HS). When asked how they can overcome all the newness, freshman Nicholas Ewan (Jamestown, NY / Jamestown, HS) added, "We have to stick to the grind and stay focused."

Despite all of the changes entering this season, the wrestlers aren't tempering their expectations. "My goal for this season is to make it to nationals and try to make All-American. I feel I have put the work in this offseason to reach that goal," said Keefe. "I want to win. Everyone out here wants to win. That is the goal," added Ewan.

The wrestlers get their first test when the team hits the road for the Adrian Invitational Saturday, November 4th.
