Jayhawks Downed Pitt-Bradford On Sophomore Night

JAMESTOWN – In their final home dual of the season, the Jamestown Community College wrestling got the 25-18 win over the University of Pitt-Bradford Friday evening.

The Jayhawks (5-2) got a nice cushion to start the dual with De'Aonte Hutchinson (Baltimore, MD/Edgewood HS) and Luke Potts (Pittsburgh, PA/West Allegheny HS) getting the forfeit wins in the 125 and 141 pound weight class to make it 12-0.

In the 149 pound bout, Brendon Ramsey (Panama, NY/Panama HS) bumped up from his usual 133 pound class where he took on Henry Cummings. In the match, Ramsey secured all five of his points in the second period to come away with a 5-0 decision victory. James Rankin (Cleveland, OH/Garfield Heights) pushed JCC's score to 17-0, getting the major decision victory over Elijah Hernandez.

With the Panthers getting a fall and forfeit win in the next two matches, Alex Christy (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia HS) grinded out a 6-4 decision win over Kyle Keefe in the 184 pound class. In the 197 pound class, Brock Johnson (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) did his job, grinding out a 7-2 decision win over Nathan Powley.

Prior to the dual, the JCC athletic department recognized Hutchinson, Ramsey, Rankin, Christy, Johnson, and Donovan Fiscus (Warren, PA/Warren Area HS) for their contributions to the program during their time here.

The Jayhawks will wrap up the dual portion of the schedule this Thursday, February 8th, as they travel to St. John Fisher University for a 7 p.m. start.
