JCC Finished Top 5 in Jayhawk and Thunderwolves Invitationals

JAMESTOWN, NY - Wet conditions continue to plague the Region 3 golf tournaments across the state of New York, and the events in Jamestown and Niagara Falls were no different.

On Friday afternoon, the Jayhawks hosted their tournament with eight other Regional schools, making the trip to Chautauqua Golf Club. The Jayhawks finished 5th out of nine teams in the event. Dan Towell shot a 90 and Spencer Bell an 86, both good enough for their best round of the season. Athanasios Bakas led the way for Jamestown, posting an 87, while teammate Brady Fye shot an 89.

JCC then traveled to SUNY Niagara with the Region 3 contingent for the Thunderwolves Invitational on Saturday. The Jayhawks gained a spot from their showing on Friday with a 4th place finish out of nine. Fye and Jackson Sandhoff carded the best round for the Jayhawks with 84s. Bell also shot under ninty, posting an 89. Sandhoff's 84 was his third score to qualify for regionals, joining Fye and Bakas. Bell needs one more 90 or better to join his teammates as regional qualifiers.

All the Jayhawks have a chance to make a move in the standings next weekend as they conclude the regular season at Jefferson Community College on Friday, Herkimer Community College on Saturday, and Onondaga Community College on Sunday.
