Jayhawks Wrap Up Final Round Of Nationals

CHAUTAUQUA – It was a beautiful sunny day as  the Jamestown Community College golf team competed in Final Round of the 2022 NJCAA D3 Men's Golf National Championships Friday morning at the Chautauqua Golf Club' Lake Course.

 

To start the day for the Jayhawks was Kyle Smallback (Randolph, NY/Randolph HS) on tee 10 where he finished with a round score of 104 for a total of 388 to place 61st. Smallback battled on the back nine, coming away with a score of 58. On the front nine, Smallback made par on hole, five while shooting bogey on five holes.

 

Noah Adams (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Central) was the next Jayhawk on the tee, shooting a 99 on the round for a total of 380 to place 59th. On the back nine, Adams made birdie on hole 14, par on 18 to go along with two bogeys. On the front nine, Adams shot a 55 with two pars and two bogeys.

 

Josh Brown (Randolph, NY/Randolph HS) shot his best round of the week, shooting an 85 for a total of 370 to finish 53rd. On the back nine, Brown made birdie on hole 15 to go along with two pars and five bogeys to shoot 43. On the front nine, Brown made four pars and three bogeys to shoot 42.

 

Traden Gray (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS) was the top scorer for the Jayhawks on the week, shooting an 86 for the round and a total of 339 to finish tied for 31st. Gray shot a 44 on the back nine including a 20 foot put on hole 18 to get the birdie. On the front nine, Gray shot a 42 where he made birdie on hole eight, two pars, and four bogeys.

 

As a team, the Jayhawks placed 10th where they shot a score of 374 on the final day and a total of 1477.

 

Sandhills CC capture back-to-back championships, shooting 1173 which is tied for second for the lowest score for a team on the week, tying Monroe CC back in 2009. Georgia Military College and the College of DuPage placed second and third, respectively.

 

Andreas Huber of Sandhills CC took home medalist honors, shooting a 289 on the week. Sandhills CC had all five competitors earn All-American honors.

 

On the women's side, Scotty Foley of Sandhills CC made history, becoming the first ever NJCAA D3 Women's Golf National Championship Medalist where she turned in a week total of 319.
