Jayhawks Sit In 10th After The First Day Of Nationals

CHAUTAUQUA – After a three-hour rain delay to begin the week, the Jamestown Community College golf team was out and running at the 2022 NJCAA D3 Men's Golf National Championships Tuesday afternoon at the Chautauqua Golf Club.

The Jayhawks were led by Traden Gray (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS) who started on the 10th tee, finishing the round with a 77 and is currently tied for 10th place with three other competitors.

Gray started the day with a par, bogey, and par but rebounded with a birdie on the 13th. Gray added one more birdie on his opening nine to get his score to 38. On his second nine, Gray was par through three holes but had a three-putt on the fourth hole set him back on the afternoon but finished the nine with a score of 39.

Josh Brown (Randolph, NY/Randolph HS) and Noah Adams (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Central) turned in identical scorecards, each shooting a 91 and are currently tied for 51st.

For Brown's first nine holes, he made par on three while adding a birdie for a score of 41. Moving top his last nine holes, Brown found himself in some trouble but managed three par holes to finish with a score of 50.

In Adams' case, his first nine holes were a battle with a score of 52 but did get on par on the 16th hole. Adams showed he had a short memory after a tough first nine, coming away with a score of 39 for his final nine holes. In the final nine holes, Adams made par on three holes while making a birdie on nine to finish strong.
