JAMESTOWN – This weekend, Jamestown Community College will play host of the 2022 Region 3 Golf Championships held at the Chautauqua Golf Club this Saturday and Sunday.

"What a great opportunity for our golfers to compete at Chautauqua Golf Club once again," said Interim Golf Coach George Sisson. "This course is the course that the national championship will be played at so why not get ahead of the curve and golf our regional championship there as well."

The Jayhawks will have one competitor that can score individually with Traden Gray (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS) being the lone golfer. To qualify for regionals, each golfer much have scores in the 80s in three matches.

Gray will look to defend his title at Chautauqua Golf Club where he won the Jayhawk Invitational at the end of April. Gray shot a 74 on the par 72 course, five strokes ahead of the next golfer, to take home the hardware.

On the year, Gray has an average score of 81.5 which is sixth in the region.

Gray will also be accompanied by his teammates of Noah Adams (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central), Kyle Smallback (Randolph, NY/Randolph HS), Josh Brown (Randolph, NY/Randolph HS), and Trevor Harrington (Arcade, NY/Pioneer Central). These competitors will only be scored for team play and cannot displace any golfers as they did not score three matches in the 80s.
