Jayhawks Hit A Bump On Moving Day

CHAUTAUQUA – After three rounds of the NJCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championships, the Jamestown Community College men's golf team had a minor setback during the round as they moved into fourth place in the team standings.

 

The Jayhawks shot a score of 326 for a three-day total of 955, 12 strokes behind the College of DuPage but two strokes ahead of Butler County Community College.

 

Brady Fye (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern High) was the leading scorer for the team, coming in with a round score of 79 for a three-day total of 233 and is tied for 22nd place. Starting on the back nine, Fye eagled the 10th hole to go along with one birdie and three pars. On the front nine, Fye had five pars. Traden Gray (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS) had the next best score of the day for JCC, shooting an 80 for a three-day total of 230 and is tied for 14th place. Gray started the day with a birdie on 10 but gave the stroke back on 11. Getting par on 12, Gray backed that up with an eagle on 13. To finish the back nine, Gray made par on three holes. On the front nine, Gray made four pars.

 

Noah Adams (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central) was inserted back into the lineup, shooting an 83. Adams made par on four holes to go along with a pair of birdies. On the front nine, Adams had one birdie and four pars. Anthony Gullo (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) was the final scorer for JCC, shooting an 84 on the day with a three-day total of 236 and is tied for 25th place. On the back nine, Gullo had six pars. On the front nine, Gullo made five pars.

 

Athanasios Bakas (North Riding, Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edwards VII School) played his second round of the tournament, shooting an 87. On the back nine, Bakas made birdie on 15 to go along with a pair of pars. On the front nine, Bakas made one par and one birdie.

 

Sandhills Community College remains first in the team standings with a team score of 862 with Georgia Military College in second with a score of 883. Individually, Ben Read and Alex Martin of Sandhills CC sit one and two with scores of 209 and 212. Nick Johnson (Georgia Military) is in third with a score of 213, Sean Barrett (Niagara County) is in fourth with a 218, and Brad Hammock (Georgia Military) round out the top-five with a score of 219.

 

On the women's side, Oxford College of Emory University is in first with a score of 1164 with RCSJ-Gloucester in second with a score of 1254. Individually, Sandhills CC has the top-three spots with Trinity Ahing shooting a total of 222, Ava Ray with a 227, and Scotty Foley with a 234. Ellia Soydara of Minnesota Community & Technical College is in fourth with a 242 and Rayne Yelinko of County College of Morris rounding out the top-five with a score of 253.
