Gullo Earns Medalist Honors; Jayhawks Place Second At TC3 Panther Invitational

CORTLAND - It was a strong start for the Jamestown Community College golf team Friday afternoon as they finished second as a team with Anthony Gullo (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) taking medalist honors in the TC3 Panther Invitational at the par 71 Elm Tree Golf Club.

 

"This was a good showing from our team to open the season up," said head coach George Sisson. "I saw a lot of good things from our golfers this afternoon but we still have some things to work on to get to where we want to go."

 

The Jayhawks finished with a team score of 321, two strokes off Onondaga Community College who finished with 319 as a team. Gullo picked up where he left off when he competed during the 2021 season when he won the event, finishing with a score of 71. Gullo finished with six birdies on the day to go along with seven pars. Gullo had a tough stretch on holes 12-15, going bogey, double bogey, and bogey. Gullo was able to rebound down the stretch, getting birdies on the final four holes.

 

Traden Gray (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS) had a solid outing, finishing tied for 12th place. Gray finished with two birdies and seven pars for a round score of 81. Brady Fye (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern High) was the third-highest scorer for JCC, finishing with a score of 84 for 17th place. Fye had a strong start to his collegiate career, getting seven pars on the afternoon.

 

Noah Adams (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central) rounded out the JCC scorers, finishing with a score of 85 to place 19th at the event. Adams had one birdie and six pars. Athanasios Bakas (North Riding, Johannesburg, South Africa/The King's College and Preparatory School) came in tied for 26th on the day with a score of 90 where he shot par on four holes.

 

Austyn Cummings (Warren, PA/Warren Area HS) came in tied for 39th with a score of 101 with Maxim Johnson (Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edwards VII School) close behind with a score of 103 to finish tied for 41st.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action tomorrow, April 15th, as they play at Sunset Ridge Golf Club in the Onondaga Community College Invitational.
