Cam Haberberger is a sophomore at JCC and a member of the men's baseball team.  He is from Jamestown and played football, baseball, and basketball in high school there.  He started as a second baseman beginning as a sophomore and excelled on the team and academically.  Honors include ECIC All-League Honorable Mention as a sophomore and junior, ECIC All-League 2nd Team as a senior, and Academic Honors each year.  He was also the recipient of the Charlie Kent scholarship.  ECIC All-League 2nd Team honors were also received as a senior for football.  Derek Jeter is his favorite athlete.  Haberberger is majoring in Business Administration and plans to earn a bachelor's degree in Marketing.

Spotlight Athlete of the Week

Cam Haberberger is the Athlete of the Week for March 16, 2016.  He is a sophomore on the baseball team and had a triple in a Jayhawks' game over the weekend.

The opportunities to participate in athletics and educational achievements were the main reasons Haberberger chose JCC athletics.  He has played baseball for 15 years and wanted to extend his career to college athletics.  He enjoys being a part of the team atmosphere.  He says it is also something that keeps him headed in the right direction with his academic standards to play.  Coach Cummings pushes him to do better in every aspect of college.

Haberberger's goals for the season are to do whatever it takes to win.  He wants the team to excel in our region and make their way to an NJCAA World Series championship.  As a team, he says they need to fix mistakes mentally and physically throughout the season in order to achieve these goals.  For the future he sees himself working in the sales industry, starting out in automobile sales and making his way to pharmaceutical sales as a final career goal.

Haberberger's advice to aspiring athletes is to not sit back and watch.  "Any goal you want to achieve can be done with hard work and dedication," he said.  "As an athlete, a quote that I live by is "There may be people with more talent than you, but there's no excuse for anyone to work harder than you — and I do believe that."
