Jayhawks Baseball vs Corning CC (double header)

The JCC Jayhawks men's baseball team (NJCAA Div III, 8-23) hosted the Red Barons of Onondaga Community College (NJCAA Div III) in double header action.  Coring jumped out to a 2-1 lead over the Jayhawks after the 1st inning.  JCC scored in the 3rd inning to tie the game 2-2.  In the 5th inning, the Red Barons scored to take a 3-2 lead.  The 6th inning saw some fireworks as the Red Barons scored 4 runs to break the game wide open.  The Jayhawks answered with 2 runs of their own but this scoring explosion would prove to be the difference as the Red Barons downed the Jayhawks 7-4.  The Jayhawks offense was led by #6 Jimmy Schuab (Falconer) who had 2 hits, 1 RBI, and scored 1 run; #4 Justin Forster (East Otto) had 2 hits and scored 2 runs; #30 Adam Gullo (Jamestown) had 1 hit and 1 RBI; #24 Noah Whalen (Buffalo) had 1 hit and scored 1 run; and #18 Michael Wilcox (Falconer) and #2 Cam Haberberger (Jamestown) each had an RBI.  The Jayhawks pitching was led by #21 Robbie Burgess (Westfield) (0-2) who faced 20 batters while giving up 8 hits, 3 earned runs, and striking out 1 batter.  #9 Jeff Miller (Jamestown) also saw action allowing 6 hits, 4 earned runs, while striking out 2 batters. 

The second game of the double header saw a reversal of fortunes for the Jayhawks.  The Jayhawks started off hot jumping out to a quick 4-0 lead after the 1st inning.  After a scoreless 2nd, the Red Barons scored 2 runs but the Jayhawks also scored a run, and scored a run in the 4th and 6th innings on their way to down the Red Barons 7-2.  The Jayhawks offense was led by #15 Connor Fitzgerald (Ontario) who crushed a home run as part of his 2 hits, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI game; #18 Michael Wilcox (Falconer) had 2 hits, 2 RBI's, and scored 1 run; #8 Michael Keller (Clarence) had 2 hits and scored 1 run; #2 Cam Haberberger (Jamestown) had 1 hit, scored 1 run, and had 1 RBI; #4 Justin Forster (East Otto) had 1 hit and scored 1 run; and #5 Kyle Mayer (Mayville) scored 1 run.  The Jayhawks pitching was led by the master of the slider #18 Michael Wilcox (5-5) who pitched the entire game and while facing 32 batters allowed 8 hits, 2 earned runs; and struck out 5 batters.
