Jayhawks Drop Two At Erie CC

WILLIAMSVILLE – In their series finale doubleheader, the Jamestown Community College baseball team fell to Erie Community College Tuesday afternoon.

 

Game 1: Erie Community College 20 – Jamestown Community College 10

The Jayhawks (9-14, 8-10 Region 3 West) were led offensively by second baseman Zach Zulawski (Melbourne, FL/ Viera HS) with three hits while shortstop Nate Johnson (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern High) and catcher Lucas Porpiglia (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) each added two hits.

 

First baseman Yordangel Gonzalez (Miami, FL/Miami Jackson Senior HS) did smack homerun in the outing and drove in three runs.

 

Pitcher Riley Piazza (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) earned the loss on the mound, going 2 and one-third inning and giving up 14 runs, seven earned. Chris Navarro (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) went the rest of the way on the mound.

 

Game 2: Erie Community College 12 – Jamestown Community College 5

In the second game, third baseman Tanner Potter (Trumansburg, NY/Trumansburg HS) led the way in hitting, grabbing two hits while six Jayhawks each had one hit apiece.

 

Pitcher Zach Rohlin (Russel, PA/Eisenhower HS) earned the loss on the mound, going one inning where four runs were scored on four hits. Walt Rybczynski (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis HS) saw a bulk of the action, going five innings. Alex Kemery (Youngsville, PA/Youngsville HS) went the rest of the way, seeing one inning of work.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action on Thursday, April 28th, as they travel to Finger Lakes Community College with a first pitch at 2 p.m.
