Jayhawks Continue To Climb In The Team Standings

BUFFALO – It has been continued improvement for the Jamestown Community College men's swimming & diving team as they have moved up to eighth place in the overall standings and second place in the non-scholarship standings after day three of the 2023 NJCAA Swimming & Diving National Championships.

 

Maxim Johnson (Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edwards VII School) continues to be outstanding in the pool, placing 10th in the 200 yard butterfly. In the prelims, Johnson swam a time of 1:59.75 and came back into the finals with a time of 1:57.17, a new school record.

 

Joseph Keyser (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central) posted a new personal best in the 100 yard backstroke, swimming a time of 1:04.51 to finish in 17th place.

 

Steven Zentz (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) swam his best time in the 100 yard breaststroke, dropping over four seconds off his previous best with a time of 1:13.01.

 

JCC's night was capped off in the 200 yard medley relay as the team of Josh Carr (Wigan, England/Standish Community HS), Johnson, Keyser, and Zentz swam a time of 1:51.76 to finish in eighth place.

 

The Jayhawks sit in eighth place with 78 points, 10 points ahead of Genesee Community College.

 

JCC will be back in the pool tomorrow, March 4th for the final day of nationals starting at 9:30 a.m.
