Johnson & Keyser Set new School Records; Jayhawks Move Up In Team Standings

BUFFALO - It was a big day for the Jamestown Community College men's swimming & diving team both individually and as a team on day two of the 2023 NJCAA Swimming & Diving National Championships held at the Burt Flickinger Center of Erie Community College.

 

Individually, Maxim Johnson (Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edwards VII School) continues to rewrite the JCC record book, setting a new mark in the 100 yard butterfly. Johnson made his way into the finals with a time of 51.74, taking two seconds off his previous best to set the new school record. In the finals, Johnson finished in 14th place with a time of 51.79.

 

Joseph Keyser (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central) has set a new record in the pool, swimming a time of 28.51 to finish in 17th place.

 

The Jayhawks capped the day off with an eighth place finish in the 400 yard medley relay where the team of Steven Zentz (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS), Josh Carr (Wigan, England/Standish Community HS), Johnson, and Keyser with a time of 4:10.33.

 

As a team, they got on the board with 49 points and are currently sitting in ninth place, just one point behind Region 3 foe Genesee Community College.

 

JCC will be back in action tomorrow, March 3rd, at 9:30 a.m.
