Johnson Sets New Mark In 100 Yard IM; Jayhawks Finish Second at JCC Invitational

JAMESTOWN - In their final home swim meet of the season, the Jamestown Community College men's swimming & diving team placed second at the JCC Invitational.

 

The Jayhawks posted a team score of 204, finishing behind Monroe Community College who had a score of 285.

 

Freshman Maxim Johnson made his in-pool debut, coming away with a pair of first place finishes and a second place finish. Placing first in the 100 yard IM, Johnson also set a new school record with a time of 59.17. Johnson also placed first in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 25.19. In the 50 yard freestyle, Johnson posted a time of 23.33 which helped him finish second.

 

Also making his debut on the season was sophomore Joseph Keyser (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central) with his best swim of the day came in the 100 yard IM with a time of 1:07.24 and placing third. Keyser also set a new personal best in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 28.49, taking three seconds off his previous best.

 

Freshman Josh Carr (Wigan, England/Standish Community HS) set a new best in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:09.22, beating his previous best by one second.

 

Freshman Gavin Roux (East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa/Selborne College) also made improvements in the 100 yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:10.94, taking five seconds off his previous personal best.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action next Wednesday, January 18th, as they travel to Erie Community College for the final WNYAC Meet of the season.
