Jayhawks Offense Beginning To Find Its Groove

The JCC Jayhawks men's baseball team (NJCAA 1-5) went on the road to face the Lazers of Onondaga Community College (NJCAA 10-1) in double header action.  The Lazers jumped out to a fast start scoring 3 runs in the first inning.  The game would settle down the next two innings and then in the 4th inning the Jayhawks got on the board to narrow the Lazers lead to 3-1.  In the 5th inning the Lazers offense got hot and added to more runs to their lead which now read 5-1.  Both teams would score runs in the 6th inning to leave the Jayhawks in the hole 6-2.  The Jayhawks attempted a rally in the 7th inning but it came up short, leaving them on the short end of a 6-4 Lazers win.  On offense, the Jayhawks were led by #7 Noah Weinstein (Jamestown) who had 3 hits, scored 3 runs, and had 1 RBI.  #24 Noah Whalen (Buffalo) and #9 Matt Hair (Frewsberg) also had RBI's.  On defense, the loss went to pitcher #3 John White (Warren) (1-2) who faced 22 batters, recording 2 strikeouts while allowing 5 earned runs. 

The second half of the double header saw the Jayhawks energy from the previous game's attempted rally carry forward.  The Jayhawks offense caught fire from the start as the Jayhawks scored 5 runs to the Lazers 2 runs in the first inning.  The Jayhawks added 2 more runs in the second inning to take a commanding 7-2 lead.  The 3rd inning saw no runs added from either team and the Lazers were still looking at a 7-2 deficit.  Then the 4th inning happened.  The Lazers had a monster inning, scoring 9 runs and leaving the Jayhawks reeling as they were now behind 11-7.   The Lazers would add 2 more runs in the 6th inning to take down the Jayhawks 13-7.  On offense, the Jayhawks were led by #7 Noah Weinstein (Jamestown) who scored 1 run, had 2 hits, and 2 RBI's.  #24 Noah Whalen (Buffalo), #34 Kobe DeJesus (Dunkirk), #8 DJ Yates (New London, OH), and #8 DJ Yates (New London, OH) also had RBI's.  On defense, the loss went to pitcher #9 Matt Hair (Frewsberg) (0-1) who faced 15 batters and allowing 3 earned runs.
