Jayhawk Women's Soccer Reloads For 2022 Season

Jayhawk Women's Soccer Reloads For 2022 Season

JAMESTOWN – Things will look to turnaround for the Jamestown Community College women's soccer team under the second-year guidance of Interim Head Coach Tyler Beaton for the 2022 season.

"I am very excited to come back to lead these great women student-athletes," said Beaton. "Gaining that experience last season was very helpful in my development as a coach and will look to see that transfer onto the field."

Beaton will look to lean heavily on the freshman-latent team with sophomores Yuribeth Castro (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) and Holland Isaacson (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) returning to the fold.

"Having Yuri and Holly returning this season gives us a starting point," Beaton said. "It gives the first-year players someone to look up to and having someone who has played at the collegiate level is extremely helpful. They are both good competitors and good examples for our expectations on this team."

The bulk of the team is full of local talent which include Ireland Hagglund (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove HS), Sienna Collins (Ripley, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central), Brynne Conley (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern High), Sheala Barresi (Westfield, NY/Westfield Central), Erin Nolan (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove HS), Reagan Chitester (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS), Aliya Graham (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS), and Raena Bird (Jamestown, NY/Frewsburg HS).

The remainder of the team is consisted of a pair of South Africans in Tarryn Meyer (Fourways Garden, Johannesburg, South Africa/Crawford Lonehill) and Jolize Beukman (Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa/Hoerskool Zwatkop).

"Our first-year players have adjusted very well to the pace of the game in preseason," said Beaton. "They came prepared, are very cerebral players that don't have a problem translating what is in their minds to their play on the field. Overall it is a great freshman class and everyone has a great grasp of the game and how it should be played."

The Jayhawks will compete once again in a very tough Region 3 schedule as they host Finger Lakes CC to open the season on Wednesday, August 31st, at home before traveling to preseason No. 5 Genesee CC on September 7th.

"Having a strong team liked Genesee early in the season helps us know where the bar is for where we need to go," Beaton said. "It will be a good learning experience for us early in the season and I'm excited to see how we handle the game."

After playing Genesee CC, JCC will play host to North Country CC on September 10th before hitting a road trip at SUNY Broome CC on September 17th and Mohawk Valley CC on September 18th. The Jayhawks will close out the month on September with two more home matches that bookend a trip to Niagara County CC on September 24th.

To begin the month of October, JCC will travel to SUNY Adirondack on October 1st and Hudson Valley CC on October 2nd. The Jayhawks will close out the regular season with three of their final four games being played at home.
