Jayhawks offense shines in the rain

The JCC Jayhawks women's soccer team (1-1) hosted the Thunderwolves of Niagara County Community College (1-2).  The Jayhawks got on the board early with an unassisted gal by #7 Cali James (Salamanca).  The Jayhawks offense onslaught continued as #8 Kelly Keefe (Jamestown) scored an unassisted goal and a little over a minute later Kelly scored again with an assist from #6 Courtney Hewes (Ashville).  As the sky opened with a downpour of rain, the Jayhawks continued to attack the Thunderwolves net resulting in an unassisted goal by #9 Tayler Morrison (Australia) and a goal by #4 Madison McLachlan (Australia) assisted by #6 Courtney Hewes to give the Jayhawks a 5-0 lead at the half.  

The second half was no kinder to the Thunderwolves as the Jayhawks scoring opportunities continued to appear.  #9 Tayler Morrison scored back to back goals (unassisted, and assisted by #6 Courtney Hewes) in less than two minutes.  Kelly Keefe then scored on a goal assisted by Courtney Hewes.  After assisting on 3 of the Jayhawks 8 scores, Courtney Hewes scored a goal of her own with an assist by #9 Tayler Morrison.  Morrison and Hewes then reversed roles for the next goal with Morrison scoring and Hewes assisting.  Hewes then scored again with an assist from Madison McLachlan.  Madison McLachlan and Courtney Hewes then switches roles for the final goal with McLachlan scoring the goal on the Hewes assist to give the Jayhawks a 12-0 victory over the Thunderwolves.  

The Jayhawks defense was led by goalie #0 Rebecca Butcher (South Dayton) who saved all seven shots she faced on goal to preserve the shutout.
