Jayhawks' rally runs out of steam against Mohawk Valley

The JCC Jayhawks women's soccer team (0-1) made their home debut against the Hawks of Mohawk Valley Community College (1-0).  The Hawks got on the board first (14:03) and scored a second goal (23:52) to take a 2-0 lead over the Jayhawks.  The Jayhawks continued to take shots on goal and got on the scoreboard (33:34) with a goal by #9 Tayler Morrison (Dundee), assisted by #2 Emily Olds (Andover), to cut the lead to 2-1 heading into the half.  After halftime the Jayhawks scored again to tie the game up 2-2 on a goal by #11 Kenya Stanton (Portland), assisted by #6 Courtney Hewes (Ashville).  The game went back and forth for 10 minutes but then the Hawk scored twice in seven minutes (65:01, 71:49) to put the game out of reach and take a 4-2 win over the Jayhawks.  The Jayhawks defense was led by #0 Rebecca Butcher (South Dayton) who had 11 saves while facing 15 shots on goal.
